We would like to begin this 2005 Season of sharing info about Hawaii by asking that all our readers take a moment to say a prayer for all our fine men and women whom are leaving loving families behind to follow the demands of our country’s president–Going off to war in to Iraq, Afghanistan, and who knows where else. Though some believe in what we are doing and some do not; we are very proud of them for the courage, stamina, and fortitude that we see them exercise in each and every news event we are privileged to get a peek into. While we see what they show us, we also know there is a much larger story. We ask that the Creator watch over them, wherever they are, and bring them safely home. And for those whom are not fortunate enough to return home, we ask that they be received into the kingdom of Heaven with welcoming arms as we offer sincere condolences to the families who must now go on without them.. Now, on a lighter side—DID YOU SEE THE PRO-BOWL GAME this past Sunday? If you didn’t, you missed a thing of beauty. You know a game has to be good when it takes all the best players from the NFL and separate these 60+ warriors into the NFC and AFC teams. What an exhibition of raw power. The stadium was packed. With fans, who seemed to have a hard time deciding which team to root for. But they sure knew how to yell. Sometimes you could not hear the person sitting next to you for the loud screams and cheers in support of various team members. There were players like Drew Brees, of the San Diego Chargers, playing for the AFC team, in red jerseys and Jason Witten, of the Dallas Cowboys, in the blue NFC jersey. .Jason caught three passes during the game, for a total of 50 yards Donovan McNabb made one magnificent throw , resulting in a 16-yard reception from Daunte Culpepper in the second quarter. That Donovan McNabb is like poetry in motion. We watched as Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick threw to Rams wide receiver Torry Holt . Peyton Manning also played a phenomenal role in this All-Star game; going on to win the MVP award.. Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, making his Pro Bowl debut, caught three passes for 50 yards for the NFC. To give you some idea of the edge of the seat type momentum this game had, just before the game was over, Brees handed off to teammate LaDainian Tomlinson, caught the ball on the pitch back and then completed the pass for 20 yards to fellow Charger and tight end Antonio Gates.. When all the dust had settled, the AFC won over the NFC by a score of 38-27. Prior to the game there was, what had to be the biggest tailgate party ever. The parking lot surrounding the arena was filled with trucks and tents and Bar b q and many tasty Hawaiian an other local treats. Across the street in the Navy’s park there was a Huge tail-gate party where anyone could meet the stars, get autographs, and see a lot of hula. If you missed it this year try to arrange your schedule to enjoy some of the fun here next year in Honolulu at the Annual Pro Bowl All-Star Game. On the subject of Movies in Hawaii, everybody doesn't love Raymond anymore; Now they are in love with our Hawaii in the form of "Lost"It is such a fascinating show. Each week we are both excited about what is happening and always left wondering what is going to happen next. And what the heck is that Pei lau monster or whatever that is repeatedly eluded to. Maybe one day we will find out if we keep watching.. "Northshore" on the other hand didn't fair so well. WE all think it’s so fake. It doesn't show the real Hawaii or the real Hawaiians. I think others know that too. ![]() | News Update | HAWAII FUN | Latest New's | Ecology Today | FUN IN THE SUN 2 | FUN IN THE SUN 3 | Da Scoops! | GREAT LINKS | Contact Us | Hono Ha ’waii | ISLAND POETRY | ISLAND PLACES | Recipes | | Return Home | |
